Three of the most popular destinations for Filipino migrants includes Canada, New Zealand and Australia. We’ve been looking for opportunity to live and settle for countries which we’ve known that some of our friends, former colleagues or relatives have migrated. We can see from their facebooks accounts the happy, new and uncommon environments, beautiful sceneries, and how they are enjoying their life with a new home which adopted them. I am not exempted from this plans. As a matter of fact, when I started working in Singapore in 2008, it was only in 2010 in which me and my wife have plans migrating to Australia. Such plans just started to come into reality after 6 years after obtaining enough years of experience for my selected occupation skills that will be assessed by the Australian Skills assessing authority for qualified skills recognized by the government of Australia.
To start with , just this month I was really excited to start and continue writing again and have begin my blog for this year with the title ” The journey had started”. It’s a general overview about how I have reached to that stage of the applications process but does not provide the details of each steps. I also mentioned how I was distracted about this goal and how I bounced back and continue with my applications. But on this post or subsequent post , I will try to provide information and some examples of documents which I have prepared and submitted as much as I can in order to give some comprehensive guide for future applicants based on my experience applying for our visa.
My visa and my family visa is Visa 189. If you’re new to Australian visa, you may want to visit this link to determine what type of visa is applicable to you and your family. Personally, I have selected Visa 189 for such reasons that my friends have selected the same visa when they applied for migrations. Besides, with Visa 189, you can select to which state you can migrate in the future. The only requirements for this type of visa is you need to have a minimum of 60 points to qualify to apply for this visa. For quick calculations, you can check this link to have a rough calculations on your current points. There are several sites from the internet that provides details about the point system. On subsequent post, I will be sharing with you how I managed to score above 60 points.
On a high level, I have categorized the overall application process into 4 distinct steps. When I started processing my applications , I have created a master plan in excel sheet with all the important application steps which I have listed below with the corresponding links. As my profession is related to Information technology, my assessing body is Australian Computer Society (ACS). For the rest of the other recognized skills in Australia, you may refer to this link to determine your assessing agency depending on your current work or occupations.

I also created my timeline for the applications until such time that the visa is granted. But again, it really requires focus and determination to move with the applications. It’s something I just realized on many goals that I have set up because of many circumstances that keeps our every day life busy, we tend to shift our focus on our goals. Now, I have to tell you that you must set up the COMMITMENT once you started the process and never stop. It really depends on what sort of goals or any forms of distraction you have encounter while on the process of applications , e.g. new job opportunity, health concerns, etc, but my suggestion is you really need to discern and asked for the Lord’s guidance for your decisions. It’s a life changing decisions that affects the whole family, our career and our future as a whole. There’s a lot of them who had made a successful journey and you may never know on what really God’s purpose in your life by migrating to this country. Many have become successful in applications because the LORD have the permission to proceed further.
